Multi-personality Weather-December 15, 2008

Hello family and friends,

My sisters and I use to joke that Utah weather was bipolar. But Texas weather has multi-personalities. For example Tuesday when we left our apartment it was in the high 60s and all we needed was a light coat but by the time we got out of district meeting at 2:00 it had dropped 30 degrees. We can never tell what the weather will be like. On day it is in the 60-70s and the next it is in the 20-30s. It is fun though for it always keeps us on our toes. "Don't like the weather, just wait a few minutes," is a common saying here in Texas.

Donnie, the lady who had a baptismal date for this week, is back in the hospital with her cancer. And it does not look like she will be released anytime soon. For a while there, Sister Borg and I didn't even know where she was, she was not answering her phone and she had also changed apartments. But finally one of the ward members got a hold of her and Donnie told her she was in the hospital and want was going on. They think her brain cancer has come back. So we don't know when she will be released from the hospital or if she will be released. We just keep praying for her that things will go well for her.

On Wed. we had another meeting with Francine and her children. We took a member with us, he is a convert to the church and before he joined the church he was Catholic like Francine. He was baptized at the age of 11, which is how old Harrison is now. Bro. Joyner shared his testimony and is experience with how he joined the church. It went very well and helped answer a lot of Francine's questions and concerns. Francine then turned to her son Harrison and asked him if he wanted to be baptized, (there went our role playing), and Harrison said yes!!! Now she just needs to talk it over with her ex-husband before we can baptize Harrison. Francine still has some more concerns, many of her family who are very Catholic and not against disowning their children. But her faith and testimony of the gospel is growing and it is great to be able to see those changes in her.

The 2nd ward activities day girls gave Sister Borg and I a Christmas tree. For one of their activities they made us a tree and they gave it to us at church on Sunday. It was very sweet of them and it is a very nice looking tree. The girls made all the decorations on the tree and it is a good size tree too, it goes to my hips.
