Mom-March 1, 2010
Dear Mom,
I don't know what to say in my last letter either. It is hard to put into words how I feel right now. It almost doesn't seem real or that it is happening. The time has gone by so fast. I am very glad to hear that this first week for me will be very busy, that should help me adjust better.
I am very excited to see y'all.
I am happy to hear things have gone a little better for you this week.
That will be fun to stay with Tery Pomeroy when we take Jayne back. Is sure sounds like a very long day is ahead for you on Tuesday. I am excited Jayne and Alexia will be there.
The past week has gone well. We were able to teach 7 lessons to investigators with members there. The work is moving forward here. A lot of people ready to receive the gospel. I loved seeing Bro. Makori and Sis. Hibberlin at church on Sunday. To be able to see people staying true to the covenants they have made with the Lord. Bro. Makori received the Aaronic Priesthood on Sunday and was ordained to the office of a priest! That was a huge miracle to see happen before I left. I am going to miss these two so much.
Looking back on my mission I realize how I really did nothing, it was all the Lord and His Spirit that did it all. I was just very blessed to be the instrument in the Lord's hand to witness all these miracles take place. my mission had filled me with great joy.
I love you so much mom. Thanks for all your letters and your love and support. It means the world to me. Thank you and dad so much for being faithful parents who taught me well of the things of God. I am very proud and honored to be called your daughter. I love you and dad with all my heart.
I know this church is true. Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. Through him the Lord restored the fullnes of His gospel. We have a prophet today even Thomas S. Monson. The Book of Mormon is the word of God and it brings us closer to the Lord than any other book. Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. He is the only way. The Atonement is for everyone. Chirst Atonement is infinite and eternal. I know God hears and anwsers my prayers. We are children of God.

Mom-February 22, 2010
Jeanne will be home on March 3rd. We are having an open house and birthday party for her on March 5th from 7pm to midnight. Come wish Jeanne a Happy Birthday and welcome her home. It will be at our home 6990 South 1700 East, and all are invited.Thanks for helping us make this the best mission for Jeanne. I am sharing my letter with you again this week. Dear Mom,
No we did not have any baptisms the past week and we don't have any this week either. We have had to drop a bunch of people or they have dropped us. So we have been doing a lot of finding these past few weeks. But things are going well still. The Lord keeps on blessing us.
One blessing this week came from two media referrals. We did a lot of tracting this week. Found a few people but not many. Then on Friday we received two media referrals. The best part was they were people we tracted into and had given them Book of Mormon pass-along cards to. They actually used the pass-along cards and called in to receive copies of the Book of Mormon. My whole mission I have been giving people pass-along cards and I have wondered if people do ever look at them and use them. It was just a huge tender mercy of the Lord to see some success for leaving things behind for people. You never know what kind of influnce you have on people.
Later today we are having a Sisters Conference at the mission home. I am really excited to go. Sister Smith asked me and two other sisters that are going home with me to do some of the training. We are training on how to be a good sister missionary, very big topic I know. I just pray I can say the words that Heavenly Father wants me to that will best help the other great sisters in this mission.
I know the Lord is with you and He will help you do what is right. Just keep holding on. And remember I am willling to help in anyway I can when I get home. I will do anything for you, mom, and for the family. I love you!
Try not to worry to much this last week. I know the Lord will bless you and the family. Ever thing will be ok. You don't have to keep everyone healthy, that is just our family. We will make it through like we always do. Let the Lord be your strength.
I would love to go with you to take Jayne and Lexie back to Las Vegas for their flight home.
I love you so much mom. Thanks for all your unwearingness service you give to the family. I don't know how you hold it all together mom. You are a great joy in my life and a huge blessing. The Lord blessed me so much the day He made me your daughter.
I know Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers. He is always there for us. He loves us perfectly. He loves us so much that He gave His only Begotten Son, even Jesus Christ, for us. Jesus Christ is the only way back to our Heavenly Father. As we faithfully keep His commandments we are blessed with peace and joy in this life.

Hi all,Sorry I haven't recieved a family and friends email from Jeanne this week. Things are very busy for her to finish up everything before she comes home in 13 days. Dear Mom,
We had a pretty good week. Elder Evans from the Seventy came and we received some great training for him. He held a special fireside for new members and investigators. We were able to take a few people down to Dallas to hear him speak. Bro. Makori went and after he and I went up so Bro. Makori could meet him. Bro. Makori told Elder Evans how he is sending copies of the Book of Mormon to his family in Kenya. It was a blessing to me to be able to hear how excited Bro. Makori is to share the gospel.
Paul is so cute. Thanks for sending some pictures. Kaitlyn and Ben are so big. I can't believe how fast they are growing and Owen too. I am excited to see them all again.
I would love to take Alexia to the zoo. And of course they can sleep in my room. I will have to go through my clothes when I get home, I have no idea what will still fit and what I will wear.
Tell Jessi and Rob I would love to do work for them. I will need something to keep me busy! I can't wait for all that filing :)

Also this week we had lots of snow. Thursday night we had to come in early because of all the snow. Friday after our president interviews we had a huge snowball fight with our whole zone. It was very fun. It almost felt like being back in Utah with this crazy weather.
I love you so much mom and I hope you always remember that. You are the best mom a daughter could ask for.
I know the church is true. The Priesthood has been restored. We can draw closer to the Lord has we study the Book of Mormon.
Well I have to go, Sister Cooper wants to take us out to lunch today. And then we are getting together as a zone to play some games.

Dear family and friends,
How are y'all doing? Hope y'all had a great week.
Sunday night I had the opportunity to go to the baptism of Shelly. Shelly was a media referral that Sister Aston and I taught and then she moved away to Bonham, TX the beginning of last month. She found the church in Bonham a week after she moved and walked right up to the Elders there to have them continue teaching her. And last night she got baptized. I was so excited when she called me up and told me she was getting baptized and she wanted me to give the talk on baptism. You could tell how happy and at peace she was as she got baptized. I love seeing the huge smile that people have on their faces after they are baptized. Truly it is the gospel of Jesus Christ that fills our souls with true peace and joy that the world can't take away from us. My heart is full with all the miracles and blessing the Lord has given me on my mission.
I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church, Christ's church. Following the Savior is the only way to everlasting happiness. All of Christ's truths and doctrines can be found in this church. We have the fullness of the gospel on the earth again, with a prophet and twelve apostles.

Hi everyone,Jeanne didn't get her P-day until today. I wasn't sure when this week's letter would come. 28 days and counting until she returns. How grateful we are for the service she is giving to those in TX and the Lord. It will be amazing to she how much she has grown and changed. Thanks again for all the support.Love, Jody

Greetings from the great state of Texas! Hope y'all had a wonderful week. And that all is well.
We have had another great week here. The Lord blessed us with 6 new investigatiors again for the week. I want to tell you how we found 3 of them.
We have been tracting in these apartments and we found a young man that said we could come back and so set up a time to come back over. Well when we got there he was busy and said he didn't have time to meet with us. As we were standing there talking to him one of his friends came up, his name is Boris. Boris asked us if we were Mormons and then told us he had lots of questions he wanted to ask us and so if we wanted to we could go to his apartment and talk to him. Thankfully we had a member with us and so we said of course we would come and answer his questions. Another friend came over, named Tino, and said he wanted to listen to so he came too. At Boris's one of his roommates, named Fabris, joined us too. They are all from Gabon, Africa and are here going to Grayson College. It is just amazing how the Lord leads us to people. We had to find this one man so we could be lead to Boris, Tino, and Fabris. It still amazes me how the Lord works sometimes.
And in these same apartments we also met another young man from Congo. His name is Laneche. He came to church on Sunday. I love people from Africa. I have met more people from all over the world here in Sherman, TX then anywhere else.
This week we also taugth David the word of wisdom. He knows the church is true but he has a few word of wisdom problems. He fears he wont be able to give them up. But I know with the help of Jesus Christ and because of the Atonement he will be able to do it. Christ can make us stronger if we just turn to Him and become humble, meek, and submissive.
I know I am weak and nothing with Jesus Christ. The Lord is my strength and my rock. Jesus Christ lives. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. He saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lords kingdom on the earth again. Thomas S. Monson the prophet of God today. And through the power of the Holy Ghost I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. We will draw closer to the Lord through the Book of Mormon then any other book.> > I love you all. Dear Family and Friends, Jeanne has asked me to forward her letter to me this week to you all. She didn't have enough time on the computer to type two letters. Jay is doing better by the power of the preisthood he is still here with us, so that Jeanne my finish her mission and return home to see him. So I will share my letter with you. She is amazing and her spiritually is a strength to our home. May the Lord bless all of you that have helped her and our family. We send you all our love. Love, Jody
Dear Mom,
Thank you so much for sharing this story with me. I am grateful you called Pres. Smith and that you let me know all that was going on at home.
When President Smith called the first time we were not by our phone, he left a message for me to call him back. Of course I was very worried to call him back trying to think of all the reasons why he would call me for he doesn't call often. President told me a lot of what you told him but truthfully it didn't all sink in at the time because I was just waiting for the news to know if dad was still alive. All I really remember from his phone call was the part about dad's blessing. That was all I needed to hear and this brought great comfort to me. I knew everything was going to be alright. I got off the phone with him and went straigth back to work and taught a lesson to Chetari.
When we got in that night I asked Bro. Cooper to give me a priesthood blessing. How grateful I am to live with the Coopers. I don't know what I would do without Bro. and Sis. Cooper. Bro. Cooper gave me a very sweet blessing. But again I don't remember most of what was said. I just remember the feelings of comfort and peace. I know God is with y'all and watching over the family for me. I will finish off me mission stronger than ever and many miracles are going to happen this last transfer.
Thank you again for telling me and letting me know what is going on. Don't worry about me at all for I am doing great, the Lord is my strength. I wish there was more I could do for the family. But I know this is where I am suppose to be at this time. I know I am suppose to be here on my mission serving the Lord and his children.
How grateful I am for the power of the priesthood and to have worthy members in our family holding it. God is very loving. And He is a God of miracles.
My week has gone great we were blessed to see many miracles. My new companions are Sister Lund and Sister Phillips. Both are from Utah. Sister Lund has been out of almost 8 months and Sister Lund for about 5 months. They are both great missionaries. I am very grateful to be serving with them and I know we will see many miracles.
This week we taught Michel. He is a man we have been teaching for a few months. He has to drive to Dallas 3 times a week for dialysis so it is hard to meet with him sometimes. But we taught him 2 times this week and he came to church for the first time on Sunday. He is thinking about getting baptized on Feb. 20th and hopefully this week we can set the date for sure.
We also taught David, the nephew of a member, and he is thinking about baptism too. He has a few things he needs to overcome first but I know he will get there. We taught him the Plan of Salvation Sat. and then at church he came up to me and thanked me for the lesson. He told me he agreed with everything we have taught him.
The Lord also blessed us with 6 new investigators this week. So the work continues to more forward. There are so many people here in Sherman that have been prepared to receive the fulness of the gospel and I love getting out there and finding them. Angels are all around us going before us preparing the way.
Mom you are a wonder woman. Your strength and faith have always amazed me. I could not ask for better parents and family. Stay strong and rely on the Lord things will be ok these next few weeks. The Lord is with you.
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is real. He suffered everything for us. He understands and will not leave us comfortless. Let the Atonement of Christ give you peace and comfort.

Dear family and friends,
We had a great week here. Brother Eliud Makori got baptized this week!!! What a joy to see him a member of Christ's church.
The baptism went very well. We had some amazing talks given by ward members, very spiritual. One of the Spanish Elders in our ward baptized Makori for us. After the baptism Elder Bryson, who baptized him, came up to us and he told us that after the baptism, while they were changing clothes, Makori was in there praying out loud and thanking the Lord. Makori had the biggest smile on his face coming out of the baptismal font. I love being able to watch people make sacred covenants with the Lord it fills my whole soul with joy!
Another miracle that happened this week was we were able to get in contact with Nancy again. Nancy is Bro. Makori's neice. She had a baptismal date for Jan. 30 but for almost 2 weeks we were unable to get a hold of her. Well Thursday we finally found her at home. We found out she started school and is still working over 40 hours a week too. She has been very busy. We are teaching her again and she came to church for the first time Sunday! I know she will get there to baptism to soon.
I want to quickly tell you about one more person for today. His name is David and he is the nephew to one of the sisters in our ward. We met him a week ago when we went to have dinner at this members home. She had already given him a Book of Mormon and he was in 1 Nephi 21 when we met him. We asked him if he would like to take the lessons and he agreed to it. We gave him a Restoration pamphlet to read and set up an appointment. On Sat. we taught him the Restoration. At the beginning of the lesson he told us that he believes there could be prophets on the earth today, that Jesus Christ is the same and if He called prophets in the past then why not today. It was a very spiritual lesson. At the end I asked him if he would come to church the next day and he replied that he was already planning on it. Then we asked him if he would be baptized when he comes to find out that these things are true for himself. He said yes, he believes that is the path the Lord wants him to take.
The Lord is preparing people to hear His gospel. The scriptures are true, the field is white already to harvest. We just need to get out there and work hard and then watch the miracles happen. I know Jesus is the Christ. He lives. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His church on the earth today. We do have a living Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who receives direct revelation from God.

Makori had the biggest smile on his face coming out of the baptismal font. I love being able to watch people make sacred covenants with the Lord it fills my whole soul with joy!
Another miracle that happened this week was we were able to get in contact with Nancy again. Nancy is Bro. Makori's neice. She had a baptismal date for Jan. 30 but for almost 2 weeks we were unable to get a hold of her. Well Thursday we finally found her at home. We found out she started school and is still working over 40 hours a week too. She has been very busy. We are teaching her again and she came to church for the first time Sunday! I know she will get there to baptism to soon.
I want to quickly tell you about one more person for today. His name is David and he is the nephew to one of the sisters in our ward. We met him a week ago when we went to have dinner at this members home. She had already given him a Book of Mormon and he was in 1 Nephi 21 when we met him. We asked him if he would like to take the lessons and he agreed to it. We gave him a Restoration pamphlet to read and set up an appointment. On Sat. we taught him the Restoration. At the beginning of the lesson he told us that he believes there could be prophets on the earth today, that Jesus Christ is the same and if He called prophets in the past then why not today. It was a very spiritual lesson. At the end I asked him if he would come to church the next day and he replied that he was already planning on it. Then we asked him if he would be baptized when he comes to find out that these things are true for himself. He said yes, he believes that is the path the Lord wants him to take.
The Lord is preparing people to hear His gospel. The scriptures are true, the field is white already to harvest. We just need to get out there and work hard and then watch the miracles happen. I know Jesus is the Christ. He lives. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His church on the earth today. We do have a living Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who receives direct revelation from God.

Dear Family and Friends,
It has been a very interesting week. I am excited for Saturday but sadly only Makori will be getting baptized. But I am very happy for him and that he is ready to make that covenant with God.
We did find Patty this week and talked to her on Wed. She is going through a lot of things right now. Her and Kenneth don't have money to get a marriage license and are facing some other issues. They are staying with some old friends. We set up a time to go back Friday night, but when we went back she was not home. So I tried again Sat. morning and the man they are staying with told me that he does not like Mormons and he will not allow Mormons into his home. Sadly we can't get in contact with her while she lives there. All I can do is pray she will move back in with the member again soon. But until then we can't teach her anymore.
And our other people with baptismal dates are gone too. So now we only have one baptism coming up. I am very grateful for Makori though and very excited to see him get baptized. He is a very humble man. He is the only investigator that has ever called me Sunday morning to check to see if we got him a ride to church. He is very prepared to enter into the waters of baptism.
On Friday Sister Aston had to have surgery. She had to have her tonsils removed. It all happened really fast. She has been sick most of the time she has been in Texas with her tonsils. On Thursday we went back to see the doctor. And he scheduled surgery to take them out for the next morning. So she has been in bed recoverying since then. That meant for me that I got to fly solo for the past few days. It was very overwhelming at first to think that I would have to do this work without a companion but the Lord has strenghtened me and helped me do it. Different sisters from the ward have been my companion for the day. I am just so grateful the Lord has given me the strength to do this and has guided me to know where to go.
I don't have much time today because I have to get Sister Aston back to bed quickly.

Dear family and friends,
Did y'all have a great New Year's day?
No stories today because I feel like I just need to share my testimony with y'all. Maybe because with the start of the new year I have had time to look back upon the past year and see all the many blessings and miracles the Lord has given me. It was been a wonderful year!
I know through the power of the Holy Ghost that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's church. Jesus Christ is the head of this church. I know Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. And that through Joseph God restored the fulness of His gospel back onto the earth. We have a living Prophet today and 12 Apostles, which is the same organization that Christ had when He on the earth (see Ephesians 2:19-21). Through the power of God Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon.
I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It is another testament of Jesus Christ. We will draw closer to the Lord as we study and ponder the teaching found in it.
Heavenly Father hears and answers my prayers. I know He loves me because I feel His love everyday and all around me.
Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I know He lives. Out of love He suffered everything for me. He is the only way. I can be forgivin of all my sins through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I am weak and nothing without Christ and would be lost and fallen forever. Christ has redeemed my soul and ransomed me. One day I will stand before God and to be judged and I hope to be able to hear, "Well done thou good and faithful servent."
I know this things are true. And I am grateful to be able to share this testimony with others.

Happy New Year!-December 30, 2009
Dear family and friends,
I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas. And that y'all have a Happy New Year too!
The Lord just keeps pouring out blessings upon Sister Aston and me.
We had a great Christmas day and were able to spend time with both Patty and Shelly, who have baptismals dates for Jan. 16.
This week the Lord also helped us set two more baptismal dates!!! Makori is getting baptized on Jan 16. and Nancy will be getting baptized on Jan. 30. Now we have 3 people that will all be baptized on Jan. 16!!! The 16th will be one of the best days of my whole mission. Makori and Nancy both were referred to us by a member Bro. Anyona. Makori is Bro. Anyona's uncle and Nancy is his sister. They are all for Kenya.
Makori came to church on Sunday and a few days we had talked to him about getting baptized on Jan. 16 and he said he would pray about it and so it was not set for sure yet. But then at church on Sunday Makorie was talking to the Bishop and he told Bishop how excited he was for Jan. 16 and it was going to be a very special day for him. He loves to study everything out and after he received the new Priesthood manual for this year he told us he was going to go home tonight and read the whole thing.
Also on Sunday we were teaching Nancy the Plan of Salvation and while we were there a friend came by to pick up something. She introduced us but he was not to interested at this time. As he left though Nancy said to him, "Hopefully one day you will join the church too." Sister Aston and I looked at each other and thought, you can't get a clear sign than that, that she is ready to be baptized. At the end of the lesson we asked her to be baptized and she said she would love that. And like I said above we set the date for Jan. 30.
If y'all could keep Patty, Shelly, Makori, and Nancy in your prayers as they prepare for baptism that would be wonderful.
I just can't believe how much the Lord is blessing us. I feel like I have done nothing, it is all the Lord's work. I am nothing without the Lord and am very weak. Christ is my strength. I am reminded of this scripture in Alma 26:11-12, "...I do not boast of my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but behold, my joy is full, yea, my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God. Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever." That is how if feel. Jesus is the Christ. He is my Savior, my Brother, my Friend. And I will praise him all my days.
